Impressive on debut at Ruakaka three weeks ago, exciting 3YO Dan Vegas (Per Incanto-Miss Bluebell by Savabeel) remained unbeaten with an even more authoritative performance to land the Truweld Engineering 3YO(1400m) at the same course on Saturday.

Carrying equal top weight, the Ken Rae and Krystal Williams trained gelding finally found the lead on the rail after 400m where from there he turned the contest into something of a procession, quickening on turning for home before been eased down over the final 100m by winning jockey Jasmine Fawcett.

Dan Vegas, who is bred and raced by Little Avondale and Totara Park Stud, joins the likes of Friday’s impressive Otaki winner Lazio as Per Incanto talent to watch over the upcoming months.

Per Incanto just missed landing his obligatory Australian Saturday metropolitan winner when the Chris Doak and Rossie Ealden bred Mrs Chrissie was run down in the shadows of the post over 1100m at Caulfield.
